The roots of American jazz grew from the southern region of the United states over 100 years ago - but there is no denying that a large portion of its influence can be found in the musical traditions of Africa. From its more rhythmic style, to its tradition of playing an instrument as an extension of your voice, the echoes of those that came before can be heard in each note that is played.
